Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and acupuncture has been used in
parts of Asia for over 2500 years, and continues to be mainstream medicine
for over 1 billion people (that’s one sixth of the world’s population).
This ancient form of healing has been modernized in the last 200 hundred
years and, even more recently, is being integrated into Western medical
practices. Its ability to manage pain from musculoskeletal injury or
imbalance has been clearly demonstrated, and its complementary application
to many other conditions has been repeatedly demonstrated in clinical
practice. Acupuncture is beneficial for:
• Pain
and Musculoskeletal Injury
• Infertility
• Difficulty
Sleeping and Insomina
• Stress
Relief and Relaxation
• Sciatica
• Back Pain
• Nerve
Pain
• Erectile
Dysfunction

According to TCM theory, the goal of acupuncture is to balance ‘life
energy’ or ‘Qi’ that courses through the body along different channels
called meridians. If, for example, a person has pain or a rash in a
certain part of their body, this indicates improper flow of Qi in a
corresponding organ system of the body. By stimulating specific spots
on the body with acupuncture needles and using specific herbs, the proper
flow of Qi will be re-established, and the pain goes away or the rash
starts to heal.
As part of their education, naturopathic doctors are trained to safely
and effectively use TCM and acupuncture as one of their tools to restore
your health. Furthermore, Dr. Kiani has continued his training in China
in both at the Beijing University for Chinese Medicine and it's associated
hospitals. Consult your naturopathic doctor to see if this therapy should
be a part of your course of treatment.
